Our reunion theme is “Wings over Utah!” We plan to feature 93rd veterans with connections to Utah and the surrounding states. The group will visit the Hill Aerospace Museum on Friday afternoon, where a restored B-24 is on display with several women depicting the famous Rosie the Riveter working on the plane. Be prepared for a special surprise. We will hold three Educational Sessions addressing the role played by regional 93rd veterans.
The 1993 Emmy Award-winning PBS documentary, “A Wing & a Prayer, the Saga of Utah Man” will be screened on Friday evening. This film relates the Ploesti Raid events and features Walt Stewart of the 93rd Bomb Group, who hails from Benjamin, Utah. In 1941, he was a 24-year-old US Army Aviation Cadet at the University of Utah. By the 1943 Ploesti mission, Captain Stewart was assigned to the 93rd and flying deputy lead in ‘Utah Man’ following Col Baker and Maj Jerstad in ‘Hell’s Wench.’ Later Captain Stewart piloted ‘Boomerang’ on a bond drive tour of the United States including a stop in Utah. If you know of a 93rd veteran whose story should be included let us know. Email:
