Email from Joe and Phyllis Duran sent to group members on 5.31.2015


I wanted to pass the word that Charles M. (Pat) Murphy passed away , Thursday, May 26,2015 at his home in Lewisburg,TN. At the age of 95 years old. Known to the group as Pat Murphy, he was part of the original 93rd BG pilots that flew to England in September 1942 in the aircraft B-24D #41-23686 they named Thunder Bird out of the 329th sq. The first of many B-24 combat crews, the Thunder Bird crew 1st mission was over Lille France on Oct. 9th, 1942. Pat would transfer to the 328th sq and pick up a new ride B-24D #41-23990 they named Heinie Hunter and make the first TDY to North Africa in Dec. of1942 where he would complete his tour of duty.


We will miss our good friend.
